Hello friends,
May I invite you to this series of essays on the theory – and practice – of eating alone.
It is seen by most as an uncomfortable occasion, a proxy to loneliness, to be avoided if possible.
Contrary to this perception, however, the act of eating alone is full of hidden pleasures, in addition to its potential for self-knowledge and spiritual enrichment, not least in terms of gastronomic experience.
We are talking about a significant number of people: 15% of all tables in restaurants all around the globe, for example. Considering that maybe 40% of the world population has its main meal away from home, we can draw a picture of a large group of individuals whose special characteristics are barely recognized as of yet.
